Lost

Contact

Lost Contact explores the complexities of human connection and disconnection, examining the physical, emotional, and relational distances created by conflict, disbelief, and loss. The piece begins in unity, with eight dancers moving as a deeply connected, cohesive group. However, as one dancer is “lost” to the unfolding narrative, the work shifts through various groupings and evolving dynamics, revealing the tension between separation and longing. Through movement, the dancers navigate the fragile boundaries between presence and absence, ultimately questioning what it means to hold on—or to let go.

Cooper Lee Smith

Cooper is an experimental composer & sonic explorer. Combining both acoustic and digital sources, his music exists in states of contradiction, where machines breathe and twigs are mechanized noisemakers. Smith graduated from the National Circus School of Montreal in 2018, where he studied circus arts as well as theater and dance. He began making music during this time as a more personal mode of self expression, before eventually composing the music for his touring contemporary circus show “Se Prendre” which he also co created. Since then he has released 3 solo albums and collaborated with various performing artists from the US, Canada, and France. As a former performance artist, he aspires to cultivate projects that unite his love of the live arts and music.
